Buenos Aires Argentina Holiday

Since the Argentine Peso was "unlinked" from the U.S. Dollar, Argentina, and especially its capital Buenos Aires, has become one of the best value holiday destinations in South America and possibly the entire southern hemisphere.

With a population of more than 13 million, most of whom have Spanish, French, Italian, German or Scottish heritage, Buenos Aries, offers a unique combination of cultures rolled up into a distinctive metropolitan flavor.

Argentina is famous for its leather industry and rightly so. The upmarket shopping plaza Patio Bullrich in Recoleta offers holiday makers the finest assortment of leather handbags, shoes, wallets, purses and leather goods in Argentina.

Recoleta is also the home to the cemetary where national heroine Eva Peron was laid to rest in her family's mausoleum. The cemetary attracts thousands of visitors each year to view her final resting place.

One of the big attractions of Buenos Aires is the Tango. There are dozens of dancing instructors offering classes and personal tuition in "the art of conversation between two bodies". Every night there are many "milongas" (tango social dances) which offer the opportuinty for holiday visitors to strut their stuff with other travellers and local Tango afficionados.

For those with an artistic eye there is the National Fina Arts Museum which boasts one of South America's finest collections of European and Argentine paintings, including a room full of Goyas.

Holiday accomodation in Buenos Aires is available to suit any travellers budget and ranges from the luxury Alvear Palace Hotel to the economical Best Western Art Deco.
